Vida Štrancar, master’s student UL FKKT
I am master degree student in Biochemistry and my current work is focused on preparing recombinant versions of metacaspases from algal organisms. I am trying to determine their kinetic properties and thus identify their role in programmed cell death in the organisms of their origin. So far, I have prepared recombinant metcaspase type II from model alga Chlamydomonas reinhradtii and tested its activity towards synthetic substrates.
Lana Vogrinec, bachelor’s student UL FKKT (mentor: prof. Marko Dolinar)
My main focus in the lab is functional characterization of the orthocaspase SyOC from the model cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. Methodology includes phenotypic analysis of the wild type and mutant strain, which lacks the gene for SyOC orthocaspase, as well as biochemical characterisation of the isolated protein SyOC.
Anna Plášková, Erasmus master’s student UL BF
I am Erasmus student from Czech Republic, where I am master degree student at the Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Chemistry. My branch is Chemistry for medical application. Here, I am analyzing various abiotic (oxidative and osmotic) stress responses in unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.
